The Hahns Peak/Bears Ears Ranger District for the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests in Wyoming is seeking public input on the Mad Rabbit Trails Project, which aims “to provide additional, sustainable, trail-based recreation opportunities in the Mad Creek, Rocky Peak, and Rabbit Ears Pass areas.” The project may add some mileage of OHV trails depending on the chosen proposal option. It is important that OHV enthusiasts stay involved in the public lands management process by contacting Forest staff.
The District is considering two options, proposals A and B, to develop into a Proposed Action. The District states that both proposals “aim to meet the project’s intent, but differ in the miles of trail proposed, proposed trail locations and uses, proposed infrastructure changes, and proposed project‐specific Forest Plan amendments.” However, only option A proposes to add motorized trails (7 miles) to the trail system.

This notice requesting public input is at an early stage in the project process and is not required as part of the upcoming National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis. The District states they plan to develop a Proposed Action during early 2018 with a formal comment period to take place as soon as summer 2018.
