Original Action Alert:

April 1, 2014 – As you know, the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), arguably the most important government program ever created to benefit motorized recreation, is funded through transportation authorization legislation. The current authorization is set to expire later this year so Members of Congress and their staffs are working on developing legislation to reauthorize transportation funding or to extend the existing law.

You will recall that the last time Congress passed a transportation funding bill RTP was nearly left out, but thankfully some champions stepped in to save the program. These same champions, Senators Klobuchar (D-MN), Risch (R-ID), Shaheen (D-NH) and Burr (R-NC) have taken an important step in ensuring that RTP is protected at the beginning of the process this time by circulating a letter open to all Senators to sign on to that urges key Committee leadership to protect this vital program.

Send an email to your Senators encouraging them to sign the letter in support of the RTP.
